Meet the Team
Since he founded the business in 1991, Steve has been a driving force behind Meridian’s growth and evolution. Over the past five years, he’s overseen the company’s diversification, building on its strength in hardware and technical services and branching out into software, managed services and artificial intelligence solutions.
Like all good MDs, Steve knows that a business is the product of its people. That’s why he strives to foster a working environment that empowers his team to be the best they can be. Although, as a business, the team is measured on our profitable sales activity, a compelling priority is in building solutions that truly meet clients’ business needs and deliver long term value.
Meridian has won many awards under Steve’s leadership, and he’s proud that his team’s expertise and dedication is recognised throughout the industry. But he’s prouder still when the team gets a personal email from a client thanking them for a job well done.
In his spare time, Steve is a keen runner, a rugby fan and a classic rock aficionado, and is devoted to his partner, children and grandchildren.
In his 21 years with Meridian, Phil has worked in almost every sales role imaginable on his journey to becoming Sales Director. A veteran of hundreds of successful client engagements, he is well-known in the industry for his expertise in finding solutions that combine technical innovation with demonstrable business value.
While he’s always happy to talk tech, Phil is in his element when clients need help with the commercial aspects of a deal. His methodology for calculating total cost of ownership has helped many clients weigh the benefits of moving to new platforms, and he gets great satisfaction from coming up with smart deals that make innovative solutions affordable for companies of any size.
Phil’s role also includes onboarding new vendors—a key part of Meridian’s strategy as it continues to diversify. His strong commercial sense has helped Meridian build a carefully selected portfolio of hardware, software and services that combine to meet practically any client’s needs.
Outside of work, Phil likes to keep fit and spend as much precious time as possible with his partner and three young children.
Director of Managed Services
For the past decade, Andy has specialised in helping IT companies extend their core strengths in infrastructure services into the cloud—with a strong track record of success. So, when Meridian started looking for a strong candidate to head up its new managed services division, Andy’s name was top of the list.
In the IT sector, change is the only constant, and Andy sees that as a positive: there’s always something new to learn, and you’re always working with smart people. In helping Meridian extend its business model to include managed services, his chief role is to help the team think about new ways of delivering solutions, even if it takes them outside their comfort zone at first.
As a result, over the past two years, Andy has helped to shape a comprehensive managed services business that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the business, taking advantage of Meridian’s long-standing expertise in sales and technical services, and adding new capabilities such as a 24/7 service desk and security operations centre.
Besides work, Andy’s kids are his top priority—but if he ever has a spare moment, he’ll probably spend it doing something strenuous: he competes in ultra running and cycling races and enjoys all kinds of sport.

Software Business Unit Manager
Andrew has worked with Meridian for many years—even though he only joined the company in 2016. His previous business, Binary, often collaborated with Meridian IT in one of the most successful partnerships in the UK IT industry: Bring Meridian Infrastructure and Binary software expertise together. As a result, when Meridian IT decided to expand into software, an acquisition of Binary was the logical place to start—and Andrew’s wealth of experience made him an obvious choice to run this new part of the business.
Andrew was eager to take on the role, seeing it as a rare opportunity to work on projects that integrate software with infrastructure, cloud, AI and security services to provide end-to-end solutions for clients. In his experience, Meridian IT’s range of capabilities is almost unique among companies of its size, and he enjoys the strong team culture that encourages every part of the business to work together towards a common goal of helping clients succeed.
When he’s not managing developers and designing software systems, Andrew likes to be outdoors—he is a keen sailor, kayaker and hiker—as well as spending quality time at home with his wife and two kids.
Technical Services Manager
Infrastructure management and consultancy has always been the heart of Meridian IT’s business, and Chris takes pride in managing what is widely considered the best technical services team in the industry.
When clients engage with Meridian IT for support or about a new hardware implementation, upgrade or migration, Chris and his team of consultants are involved from day one of the presales process through to the final delivery of the project, ensuring that the client always has direct access to the deep technical expertise they need to achieve their goals.
Meridian IT also relies on the strength of its technical services team to support its own infrastructure: Chris and his colleagues designed and implemented Meridian IT’s cloud. They work closely with the managed services team to ensure the platform delivers the scalability, flexibility and availability that clients need, 24/7.
Three decades into his career, most of Chris’s day-to-day work now involves managing and supporting his team but he never misses the opportunity to get involved in the hands-on work of solving deep technical challenges. Several of Meridian IT’s clients have relied on his expertise for 20 years or more, and he is always ready to assist whenever they call.
In his personal life, Chris is married with a son, who also now works in the IT industry for another Business Partner.
Administration & Finance Manager
As Meridian’s portfolio has broadened, the complexity of running the business has grown. Sonia’s team is responsible for managing that complexity and keeping all the back-office processes running smoothly and on schedule.
In practice, that means ensuring that orders are placed, suppliers paid, invoices issued, and audits completed on time. While these may not be the highest-profile aspects of delivering a major IT project, nevertheless, it’s vital to handle them correctly and efficiently.
Sonia also has a significant role supporting the rest of the Senior Management Team with compliance. In particular, she oversees Meridian’s ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications, assuring clients that service quality is continuously improved and that the company’s policies & processes surpass the relevant standards.
On a lighter note, Sonia enjoys the good humour and team-focused environment at Meridian and is known throughout the company for her spectacular taste in shoes. She is already planning her footwear for the next Christmas Party.
